Detailed Itinerary for 8 Days Combined Rwanda and Uganda Safari.
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable National park
Depending on your location in Kigali, whether it is the airport or a hotel, our driver guide will pick you up and bring you to a hotel in your desired budget that is closer to the park. During the ride from Kigali to Bwindi, you may take a city tour and learn about Rwandan culture and history till you reach at your hotel. You will then appreciate the ambiance near to the endangered animals’ habitat. The hotel will treat you with supper. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Day in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.
After breakfast at the hotel and packing your lunch, you will be greeted by our driving guide who will take you to the park headquarters for a briefing before you begin your journey. This brief is completed at the headquarters at 7 a.m. The gorilla journey might take anywhere from 2 hours to nearly half a day to reach the gorillas. When you finally get to see the gorillas, you get an hour to appreciate them from a distance of 6 metres. After the hike, you will be transported for lunch and then to your hotel to unwind. In the evening, you can take an optional village tour. Dinner and an overnight stay at your lodging are included.
Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National park (Rwanda)
Wake up early and drive to Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park in Ruhengeri. The route takes you past gorgeous countryside and people’s houses, with spectacular views of the Virunga Volcano Massif. Check into your chosen resort upon arrival in Ruhengeri. Dinner and an overnight stay at your chosen lodge/hotel.
Day 4: Golden monkey tracking and nature walk
After an early morning breakfast, go to the park headquarters for a briefing before entering the jungle to seek for golden monkeys. Tracking the golden monkeys allows you to see other primates including black and white Colobus monkeys and Olive baboons. Afternoon activities include a nature walk to the twin lakes or a visit to the Iby’iwacu traditional town. Dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge of your choice.
Day 5: Dian Fossey hike and Transfer to Lake Kivu
After breakfast, you will go to the Karisoke research facility for a climb to the Dian Fossey graves. Transfer to Lake Kivu after lunch for a boat excursion on Lake Kivu. Dinner and an overnight stay at your choice of lodge/hotel.
Day 6: Transfer to Nyungwe forest National Park
Set out for Nyungwe Forest National Park after breakfast. It is a lovely trip through Rwanda’s homesteads and various hills — the country of a thousand hills. Come in the afternoon. Dinner and an overnight stay at your lodge/hotel are included.
Day 7: Chimp trekking and Canopy walk
After a hearty breakfast, you’ll go to the park headquarters to track the chimp, which also provides you the chance to see a variety of woodland birds. In the afternoon, you will go on a canopy walk in the forest, where you will see different primates and get a spectacular perspective of the jungle. There will be several birds and monkeys enjoying the forest. Dinner and an overnight stay at your lodging are included.
Day 8: Transfer to Kigali
After breakfast, you will depart for Kigali city, stopping along the way to visit the Nyanza Kings Palace for a cultural tour, the Butare National Museum, and the Murambi Genocide Museum, among other places. You will arrive in Kigali late afternoon/early evening and will be dropped off at your pre-booked accommodation in Kigali or at the airport for your flight.
