Detailed Itinerary

Detailed Itinerary 5 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking & Wildlife Safari

Day 1: Pickup and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Begin Day 1 of your 5-day Uganda Gorilla Trekking & Wildlife safari with an early breakfast in Kampala. Your guide will take you up from your accommodation and drive you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the Mbarara-Masaka Highway. The travel from Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park takes between 6 and 9 hours, depending on the area of the park you follow gorillas from. You will make a halt in Kayabwe, Mpigi district, to see the equator monuments. These two equator monuments trace the equator’s path across Uganda.

You’ll then proceed to the Igongo Cultural Centre for lunch. This enormous cultural center is about 12 kilometers from Mbarara Town and is a wonderful stop for many visitors en way to western Uganda. The Igongo Cultural Centre first opened its doors to the public in 2010. While you’re here, take a quick look around the centre’s museum, which has a lot to say about Western cultural past. You may also stop by the Nkwanzi crafts and bookshop to pick up a few mementos for yourself.

After a substantial meal, travel to Bwindi, where you will check into your lodge and get refreshed. Dinner and overnight at Buhoma Community Lodge/ Buhoma Haven Lodge/ Silverback Lodge.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking In Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Gorilla Trekking: This is the day you’ve been looking forward to. Have breakfast at your lodge as soon as possible since your guide will take you up at 6 a.m. You’ll take a short drive to the Parks headquarters in Buhoma. You are expected to be at Buhoma at 7 a.m. for a briefing by the park’s chief ranger, which will begin at 8 a.m., and then you will be divided into groups of 8 people based on the gorilla troop you will be tracking. Tracking begins at 8:30 a.m., so make every effort to stay on time.

Each tracking party is limited to eight people, and each group is led by a park ranger and a park guide. Tracking can take anywhere from one to six hours, depending on how readily and quickly the gorillas are located. Once you’ve found a gorilla family, you’ll have exactly one hour with them; hence, make the most of your time and don’t forget to shoot lots of images without using your camera’s flash.

After your gorilla trekking experience, head back to base for your gorilla trekking certificate and then drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay same as above.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Lion Tracking Experience

Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park: After breakfast at your lodge, proceed to your transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The park is around 90 kilometers from Buhoma through Ishasha. You’ll need around 4-5 hours to go to Queen Elizabeth National Park from Buhoma in Bwindi, or about 7 hours if you’re coming from the southern sector of Bwindi.

Lion Tracking Experience: After lunch and some relaxation at your lodge, head out later in the afternoon for the lion tracking experience. You will be able to observe Queen’s famed tree climbing lions, which can be located in the Ishasha area. A park ranger and a team of specialist researchers will accompany you as you seek for lions using innovative position monitoring equipment. This activity will allow you to get up and personal with the lions. Later, return to your resort for supper and overnight stay at Elephants Plains/ Elephant Hub/ Pumba Safari Cottages.

Day 4: Morning Game Drive and Evening Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel

Morning Game Drive: Start your day with an early breakfast and a morning game drive in the park, which begins at 6 a.m. This early game drive will provide you with an excellent opportunity to see nocturnal species like as leopards and serval cats, as well as other wildlife such as African savannah elephants, hyenas, Uganda Kobs, heart beasts, giraffes, zebras, and many more. Queen Elizabeth National Park is home to over 612 bird species, making it an ideal location for birding excursions. You may see birds such as the African skimmer, Chapin’s flycatcher, Shoebill stock, great flamingos, and pink-backed pelicans during your game drive.

Evening Boat Cruise: After lunch, return to your resort and depart in the afternoon for an evening boat cruise through the Kazinga waterway. The boat excursion begins at 1pm and lasts around 2 hours. During your boat ride, you may see hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, and other bird species like as great flamingos, Shoebill stock, Ibis, and many others.

Return to your resort for dinner and an overnight stay same as above.
