Detailed Itinerary

Detailed Itinerary 6 Days Gorilla Trekking in Uganda.

Day 1: Pickup and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park with Lion Tracking Experience.

Pickup & Transfer to Queen: Begin your day with a leisurely breakfast in your Kampala hotel. Your guide will take you up from your accommodation and drive you for 6 hours to Queen Elizabeth National Park through the Mbarara-Masaka Highway. You will make a halt in Kayabwe, Mpigi district, to see the equator monuments. These two equator monuments trace the equator’s path across Uganda. Then you’ll head to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Lion Tracking Experience: Upon your arrival in the park, embark on a lion tracking experience as you search for lions in the park. The activity can take between 2 to 4 hours or more depending on the location of the lions in the park.

Later check into your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Elephant Hub Lodge/Park View Safari Lodge/ Elephant Plains Lodge.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel

Morning Game Drive: Have an early morning breakfast and proceed on a morning game drive in the park which begins at 6am. This morning game drive will give you a great chance to view nocturnal animals like leopards, serval cats and other wildlife such as African savannah elephants, hyenas, Uganda Kobs, heart beasts, giraffes, zebras and many more. Queen Elizabeth National Park is blessed with over 612 bird species thus making it a great destination for birding activities. While on your game drive, you may spot birds like the African skimmer, Chapin’s flycatcher, Shoebill stock, the great flamingos and Pink- backed pelicans.

Afternoon Boat Cruise: Return back to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon, head out for an evening boat cruise along the Kazinga channel. The boat cruise starts at exactly 1pm and can take approximately 2 hours. During your boat cruise, you may sight lots of wildlife such as hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants and some species of birds like the great flamingos, Shoebill stock, Ibis and so many others. After your boat cruise, you can opt to do a cultural tour where you can visit the nearby Bakonjo local communities. On your visit, get to see the day to day activities of the local people and be entertained by the traditional dance groups.

Later return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via Ishasha

Transfer to Bwindi: On day 3 of your 6 Days Gorilla Trekking in Uganda, have breakfast early in the morning and meet up with your guide. You will then drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda. Upon your arrival in Bwindi,

Later retire to your lodge for dinner and an overnight at Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge/ Buhoma Haven Lodge/ Silverback Lodge.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Community Tour

Gorilla Trekking: Have your breakfast very early in the morning and report to the park at 7am. You will be briefed by the head ranger at the park and then placed in tracking groups not exceeding eight members per group. You will be allocated a park guide and range who will take you through your gorilla tracking experience in Bwindi Forest. Gorilla trekking in Bwindi can take between 4 to 8 hours or more depending on the location of the gorilla group that you will be tracking. Endeavour to pack lunch from your lodge on this day.

Batwa Community Tour: After your gorilla trekking experience, you will embark on a community visit to the neighboring Batwa communities near the national park. Get to mingle with the local Batwa people and learn more about their daily lifestyles and culture; from traditional dance performances to storytelling and so much more. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 5: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi and Afternoon Boat Ride

Have Breakfast in the morning at leisure and then check out of your lodge. You will drive to Lake Bunyonyi in the south-western part of Uganda between Kisoro and Kabale districts.  It is believed to be the second deepest lake on the African continent; with its depth measuring at approximately 900 meters. The lake has 29 Islands with the most popular island being the “Punishment Island” where women in the past were exiled to if they got pregnant out of wedlock. The lake is also a renowned birding destination in Uganda with about 200 bird species including the grey crowned cranes, African King Fisher, egrets, herons, the Slender-billed baglafetch and many more. Explore the beauty of the lake during an afternoon boat ride on the lake.

Day 6: Transfer to Kampala/Entebbe

Transfer Back to Kampala/Entebbe: Wake up at leisure and have breakfast at your lodge. You will then drive back to Kampala or Entebbe International Airport where you will board your return flight back home. End of safari.
