Day 1: Pickup and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Your Uganda Gorilla Tracking Safari adventure begins with a leisurely breakfast at your Kampala hotel. Your guide will pick you up from your accommodation and embark on a scenic 6-hour drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park via the Mbarara-Masaka Highway. Along the way, you’ll pause in Kayabwe, Mpigi district, to explore the equator monuments marking the path of the equator in Uganda. Following this, you’ll continue your journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park.

In the park, you’ll kickstart your exploration with a thrilling lion-tracking experience, where you’ll search for these majestic animals. The duration of this activity can range from 2 to 4 hours, depending on the lions’ location in the park.

Later, you’ll check into your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at one of the following options: Elephant Hub Lodge, Park View Safari Lodge, or Elephant Plains Lodge.

Day 2: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel

Set out for an early morning game drive at 6 a.m. after enjoying breakfast. This exciting adventure provides an excellent opportunity to spot nocturnal creatures like leopards and serval cats, as well as other wildlife such as African savannah elephants, hyenas, Uganda Kobs, hartebeests, giraffes, zebras, and an impressive variety of bird species. Queen Elizabeth National Park is renowned for its 612 bird species, making it a haven for bird enthusiasts.

After your morning safari, return to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, embark on an intriguing boat cruise along the Kazinga channel, commencing at 1 p.m. During this 2-hour boat excursion, you’ll have the chance to observe wildlife such as hippos, Nile crocodiles, elephants, and various bird species, including the striking flamingos, Shoebill storks, and Ibis.

Following the boat cruise, you can opt for a cultural tour, visiting the nearby Bakonjo local communities. Here, you’ll gain insights into the daily lives and traditions of the locals, enjoying traditional dance performances and storytelling.

Conclude the Uganda Gorilla Tracking Safari day by returning to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via Ishasha

Enjoy an early breakfast before meeting your Uganda Gorilla Tracking Safari guide to commence your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in southwestern Uganda. Upon arrival in Bwindi, you’ll check into your lodge.

Later, you’ll retire to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay at one of the following options: Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge, Buhoma Haven Lodge, or Silverback Lodge.

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking and Batwa Community Tour

Start your day with an early breakfast and head to the park for a 7 a.m. briefing by the head ranger. Afterward, you’ll be placed in tracking groups, with no more than eight members per group. Accompanied by a park guide and ranger, you’ll embark on your gorilla trekking adventure in Bwindi Forest. The duration of the trek can range from 4 to 8 hours or more, depending on the gorilla group’s location. Be sure to pack lunch from your lodge.

After gorilla trekking, explore the nearby Batwa communities on a cultural visit. Interact with the Batwa people, gaining insights into their daily life, culture, traditional dances, and storytelling.

Day 5: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi and Afternoon Boat Ride

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and check out of your lodge. You’ll then drive to Lake Bunyonyi, a stunning lake nestled between Kisoro and Kabale districts in southwestern Uganda. Known as one of Africa’s deepest lakes, it boasts 29 islands, including the notable “Punishment Island,” where unwed pregnant women were once exiled. Lake Bunyonyi is also a haven for bird enthusiasts, with around 200 bird species.
