Volcanoes NP is home to over 350 Mountain gorillas, thus offering the ultimate dream gorilla experience.  You will also have an option of doing other activities such as Visiting the Ibylwacu cutural centre, Dian fossey hike or visit to the twin lakes.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Kigali to Volcanoes National Park

Depending on your arrival time you will be taken for a brief Kigali City Tour that should last anywhere between 1-3 hours after which you will transfer to Kinigi through Musanze district for the next days’ Rwanda Gorilla Tour.

Day 2: Gorilla Tracking in Volcanoes National Park

Early morning breakfast will be served at the lodge after which you will transfer to the Kinigi briefing area where you will be briefed by park officials about the day’s activities and assigned a group that you will trek the Gorillas with. Gorilla tracking lasts anywhere between 2-8 hours depending on the location of the Gorillas on that particular day.

After successfully tracking the Gorillas you will stay in close proximity with the Gorillas for an hour after which you will return to your lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon you will visit the iby’iwachu cultural village for local musical performances by a local musical cultural troupe.

Dinner will be served at the lodge

Day 3: Visit the Dian Fossey site and Afternoon transfer to Kigali

After your early morning breakfast you will the Rwanda Gorilla Tour with a hike to the Dian Fossey sit. Dian Fossey was an American conservationist who undertook extensive studies of mountain Gorillas from 1966 until her death in 1985. Dian Fossey founded the Karisoke Research Centre that is found between Mount Karisimbi and Mount Bisoke and is famed for extensive protection and monitoring of Mountain Gorillas.
The hike to the Dian Fossey site will last approximately 4 hours after which you will transfer back to Kigali
